Question 1 - What is Beaver Scouting?:

Beaver Scouts are usually aged between six and eight years old. They belong to the first and youngest Section in the Scouting family.

Easily recognised by their distinctive turquoise sweatshirts and Group scarves, Beaver Scouts enjoy making friends, playing games, going on visits and helping others.  They usually meet together once a week in a Beaver Scout Colony.

At 1st Kennington we try to arrange visits that children wouldn’t normally have the opportunity to do with their parents/guardians.  We have taken our Colony on a behind the scenes trip to our local Sainsbury, where they tasted new fruits and had a chance to use the checkouts and the children also had a chance to look inside an ambulance when a Paramedic visited our Colony.

We have recently raised over £300, to be shared equally between our Scout Group and the Children with Leukaemia charity, by doing a Childrens’ Marathon involving a keep fit routine with 26 different types of exercises!

Question 2 - Is there a waiting list?:

Yes, currently we manage two lists; a waiting list and a register of interest.

The waiting list is currently closed for any child born before 2006.

The register of interest is a list that contains names of children older than four who maybe eligible to join at a later date if spaces become available that cannot be filled directly from the waiting list.

To add a child to either list please use the form via the “Contact Us” tab, giving your child’s fullname, date of birth and a contact telephone number.

Question 3 - What uniform is required?:
